| Interstate 70 |
Interstate 70 streches from St. Louis to Kansas City, while in Missouri. The path that I-70 follows, parellels the Missouri River. Although I-70 doesn't go to Jefferson City, it is a common segment on the trip. Also, I-70 is the main link between Downtwon St. Louis and Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Through the St. Louis Metro Area the proper name for I-70 is the Mark Twain Expressway. Plus, a portion of I-70 runs with the Katy State Trail. This tail runs along the Missouri River from St. Charles, west to Clinton on the old Kansas, Missouri, and Tennessee Railroad Line.
Missouri officals are considoring putting toll booths on the 250-mile highway. This would pay for the cost of re-building the entire highway. Tolls could be as high as $45 for truck roud-trip from St. Louis to Kansas City. It could be $20 for the same round trip for cars.*
The cheif of MoDOT would like to see separate lanes for cars and trucks on I-70 from St. Louis to Kansas City. The project could cost $3.5 billion. It would also require a third lane in each direction. Cars and light vehicles would get two lanes and heavy trucks would get one lane. Several interchanges along the route would have to be re-worked.**
While in Missouri, I-70 is multi-plexed several times.
I-70 is multi-plexed with...
