This section of the Lincoln Highway generally runs along and parallel to U.S. 20 through South Bend, Mishawaka, and Elkhart.

South Bend
The Lincoln Highway enters South Bend along U.S. 20 and becomes BUSN U.S. 20 at U.S. 31. This is on the westside of the South Bend Metro Area at the South Bend Airport. It runs along Lincolnway to Lafayette Street. Here it goes south on Lafayette Street to Washington Street. As the Lincoln Highway twists through Downtown South Bend, you pass by the St. Joseph County Courthouse, and various shops and restaurants. When the Lincoln Highway reaches Michigan Street, it turns south. The highway briefly uses Western Ave to rejoin Michigan Street (BUSN U.S. 31/Indiana 931). Just after this little jog, the highway turns east on Monroe Street. Monroe Street becomes Lincolnway again as it runs along the St. Joseph River and heads to Mishawaka.

Mishawaka
The routing through Mishawaka stays along Lincolnway/Indiana 933. Through this routing there are some nice views of the St. Joseph River.

Elkhart
The Lincoln Highway twists and turns through Elkhart. It enters Elkhart at the Elkhart/St. Joseph County Line, and turns north on Ash Street from Lincolnway. The highway goes up Ash Street to Indiana Avenue. Once on Indiana Avenue, the highway follows the southside of the St. Joseph River, to Franklin Street. Once on Franklin Street it becomes Vistula Street, and runs up to Jackson Street. The highway then heads down Main Street, which becomes U.S. 33 at U.S. 20.
