
This section is the eastern entrance to the Land of Lincoln. It is one point where two historic highways cross. In the south suburbs of Chicago, the Lincoln Highway meets the Dixie Highway.
As the Lincoln Highway crosses Will County it passes through historical communities, and meets at the cross roads of America.
From Interstate 55 to Interstate 88, the Lincoln Highway leaves U.S. 30 in several sections. This passes through revived downtowns, and to historic exhibits.
In this section the Lincoln Highway follows the Fox River, before continuing it's westward journey. Once starting the westward journey, it moves through rolling farm lands entering North-Central Illinois.
The Lincoln Highway follows along the Union Pacific (ex-Chicago Northwestern) rail lines as it goes across North-Central Illinois.
From Rochelle, the Lincoln Highway enters the Rock River Valley as it heads west across North-Central Illinois
In the Dixon-Sterling Area, this passes through two towns raised on the Rock River and grown with the Union Pacific (ex-Chicago Northwestern) Railroad.
Between Sterling and Morrison the Lincoln Highway follows U.S. 30 for most of it's journey.
Between Morrison and Sterling the Lincoln Highway follows U.S. Rt. 30 to Fulton and Illinois 136 to cross the Mississippi River into the State of Iowa.
