Salisbury Street Alignment

Through the City of St. Louis, U.S. 66 used what is known as the Salisbury Alignment from 1929-1932. At Manchester Road, it joined up with the Chouteau Alignment.

This alignment entered the City of St. Louis, and the State of Missouri from the State of Illinois on the McKinley Bridge from Vincennce, IL. This follows Natural Bridge Road west. For it to move down to Delmar Blvd. U.S. 66 took both Grand Blvd, and Vandeventer Ave.

On Delmar Blvd., U.S. 66 headed west to Sarah Street. After a brief pass on Sarah, U.S. 66 Lindell Blvd. Once at the intersects of Lindell and Boyle, U.S. 66 has two different routes.

The first route passes through Forest Park. Another route follows Lindell to Skinker. Skinker bcomes McCausland Ave. Follow this south to Manchester Road. At the interection of Skinker, Clayton, Clayton, and McCausland, the Salisbury St. Alignment joins the Chouteau Alignment.

The Salisbury algiment passes many historical places in the City of St. Louis. This includes the former site of Sportsman Park, the Fox Theater, the site of the 1902 World's Fair, Forest Park, and a large Amoco sign.

Chouteau Alignment
This was the alignment of U.S. 66 from 1929-1934. The Chouteau alignment entered the State of Missouri from the State of Illinois on the MacArthur Bridge. This heads west along Chouteau Avenue to the Grove, and to Forest Park. At Forest Park, some sights to see include the St. Louis Science Center, and the St. Louis Zoo. In Forest Park, take Hampton across Interstate 64/U.S. 40 to Clayton Ave; follow Clayton Ave. west.. At the interection of Skinker, Clayton, Clayton, and McCausland, the Chouteau Alignment joins the Salisbury St. Alignment.

EB U.S. 66 east of Boyle Ave.

Heading south on McCausland Ave., U.S. 66 goes to Manchester Road, and goes west. From here it follows Missouri State Route 100/Manchester Road into St. Louis County, and to Gray Summit.

Through Wildwood, U.S. 66 follows Manchester Road. Shortly after entering Wildwood from Ellisville, Missouri 100 splits off of Manchester Road and runs north of Manchester Road. U.S. 66, as stated before, follows Manchester Road.
